The following text is transcribed from the Journal.
A moon garou 狩猎 called Mayev was the first in Ashenfall to wear the skin of a red 龙族, though she did so not out of malice, but in respect for a dear friend. To the garou, the hide of a slain foe is a mark of great pride, and the bones of a warrior are worn with great honour.
As a cub, Mayev was never one to stay in one place. She ran round and round the caravans without a care in the world, always bringing the frustration and ire of her elder. “Be still!” were the words she heard first thing in the morning. “Be quiet!” the command she heard each night before bed. Yet, stillness and silence were as alien a concept to her as the 魔法 of the druids - something far out of her reach.
One day, she left her camp in search of wild adventure, much to the chagrin of the camp guards. She risked the harsh sunlight of the dunes, clinging to shadows, exploring caves and passages revealed by the passing sandstorm of the day. Each morning her world was different, new paths appeared while familiar ones were hidden, and on this day she found a cavern deep underground.
There she found a red 龙族, breathing her last breath, and the hatchling beside her breathing his first.
