The queen is all that matters. Protect the queen at all costs.

Those are the only thoughts within the guardian - the only drive, the only reason for living. All their energies, every cell in their bodies, fixated on that singular command.

Perhaps this is why they fight with such fervour. When your entire existence is reduced to a single focus, a single command, everything must get a little frustrating. The kalphite do not aspire, they do not dream. They have their place in the hive and they accept it completely.

Avisk was fascinated by this. As one of the Aughra, he was always obsessed with the mind and the potential within it. Whereas the other Aughra sought to escape the curse by transferring their consciousness to a single new 胸甲, Avisk dreamed of becoming the swarm. The kalphite fascinated him. He saw them as a single entity comprised of multiple individual moving parts and the potential of that structure became his new obsession.

When he stole some of the royal eggs from the Kharidian Desert’s hive, he was forced to battle several guardians who were protecting the nest. While they were no match for the power of a dragonkin, they nonetheless earned what passes for Avisk’s respect and he made sure to encourage his new queen to create as many guardians as possible so he could study them further.
